I had to call PG&E to straighten out some auto payment weirdness. Instead of being forced to listen to the latest adult contemporary hits, I had the option to enter my phone number and record my name for a call back.
10 minutes later I received a call where the female robot said, “George has requested PG&E to call him back. Once he’s on the phone, press 1 and he will be connected to a representative.” (Except the message was stated in a gender neutral way somehow.)
I pressed 1, and a person was on the other line.
Every bank, phone company, service firm should do this.
